Marcus Kaitila

Collaborative Pianist / Music Theory

Pianist Markus Kaitila has appeared as a soloist with Joutseno Art Summer, Wratislavia, and Queens College chamber orchestras, and One World and New Amsterdam Symphony orchestras, under conductors such as Tong Chen and Charles Neidich. He won Bronze Prize in the 2nd WPTA Finland International Piano Competition 2020 and First Prize at the Köhler-Osbahr piano competition (Duisburg). Markus has performed in the Wiener Saal (Salzburg), Musica Mundi Festival (Belgium), Jahrhunderthalle Bochum, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Palazzo Ricci (Montepulciano), Helsingborg Piano Festival, RNCM (Manchester), and New York’s Mannes, Merkin and Carnegie Halls. He has completed residencies at Music Academy of the West, Chautauqua Institution, and Pianofest in the Hamptons. He has studied at the Sibelius Academy with Hui-Ying Liu-Tawaststjerna, Folkwang University with Till Engel, Aaron Copland School of Music with Nina Lelchuk (BM), NYU Steinhardt with Eteri Andjaparidze (MM), and The Hartt School with Jose Ramos Santana (DMA candidate).
