Ani Gregorian Resnick - Director, Violin Teacher

     A native of East Lansing, Michigan, violinist Ani Gregorian Resnick received her Bachelor of Music degree in 1997 and her Master of Music degree in 1999 from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Joseph Fuchs, Harvey Shapiro and Earl Carlyss.  She has performed on Broadway in The Lion King, Miss Saigon and Jane Eyre, on the Late Show with David Letterman, with Bono (of U2) in Giants Stadium and with Bryan Adams on MTV Unplugged, which was subsequently released on A&M Records.  Mrs. Resnick has also performed in Italy with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, toured Asia with the Juilliard Orchestra and is currently a member of the Springfield (MA) Symphony Orchestra and the New Choral Society of Scarsdale. She can be heard on various television commercials for Sprint, Disney, Ethan Allen, and Este Lauder.


    Over the years Mrs. Resnick has performed with such diverse artists as Luciano Pavarotti, Art Garfunkel, Arlo Guthrie, Olivia Newton-John, the Moody Blues, Don McLean, Donna Summer, Kurt Masur, and Bobby McFerrin.  In 1993, she was first prize winner at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition as first violinist of the LaStrada String Quartet.  This performance was released on CD in 1998 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the competition.


   Mrs. Resnick continues to give recitals and chamber music performances throughout the United States, and is an active violin teacher and clinician.  She is the founder and director of Suzuki on the Island (formed in 2000), and was formerly a teaching artist for the New York Philharmonic School Partnership Teaching Program and the director of the North Shore Performing Arts Academy Suzuki Program.  Mrs. Resnick is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas.


Alejandra Mahave - Violin Teacher

   Alejandra Mahave was born in Chile and comes from a family of professional musicians.   She is a graduate of the University of Chile, National Conservatory of Music with a degree in Viola Performance and a former member of the Chilean National Symphony, a position she won by audition while finishing her studies at the Conservatory.


    Upon her arrival in the United States, Ms. Mahave toured extensively, performing throughout the country and Canada with the Music of Andrew Lloyd Weber featuring Michael Crawford. As a performer Alejandra has been active in many different aspects of musical life, joining  the Riverside Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, Westfield Symphony, The New York Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, City Island Chamber Ensemble and Alma String Quartet. Alternative venues include appearances and recordings with a wide range of popular artists such as Donna Summer, Bryan Adams, Tony Bennett and Mark Mangold, as well as  on numerous commercials for radio and TV.   Ms. Mahave has also participated in Music Festivals around the world including the Festival di Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, the Frutillar Summer Festival in Chile, the Manchester Music Festival in Vermont and the Chamber Music Festival of the Hamptons.


     Alejandra started assisting in the studio of violinist Norma Kokisch at a very early stage of her career, making teaching a relevant aspect of her development as a musician. Since then she has been involved with many music schools  in the Metropolitan area including the Third Street Settlement, Manhattan School of Music Preparatory School, The Queens College Preparatory  School and the Birch Wathen Lenox School.  She has done extensive coaching in the Tri-State Area including the Connecticut Youth Symphony and  with a special program from BOCES coaching youth orchestras throughout Nassau County. She is very proud and happy to rejoin the faculty at Suzuki on the Island after a year long break in which she concentrated her efforts on raising baby Liam.




  
Jane Pae - Cello Teacher

    Cellist Jane Pae, a recipient of the Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship in 2007, received both her Bachelor and Master of Music from The Juilliard School. She has appeared in concert at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully and Avery Fisher Halls, Steinway and Carnegie Halls, Zankel and Weill Halls of Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center.  Most recent performances include touring with the Juilliard Orchestra in China with New York Philharmonic's Associate conductor Zhang Xian, participating in the Focus Festival honoring American composer, Elliot Carter, under renowned conductor James Levine, chamber performances with her piano trio, as well as presenting a graduation recital program at The Juilliard School.

    Previous teachers include Joel Krosnick, Darrett Adkins, Bonnie Hampton, Andre Emelianoff, and Nellis Delay. Upcoming performances include performances with Asian Artists and Concerts for the 2008-2009 concert season, as well as solo and chamber music performances. Ms. Pae recently completed the Suzuki Pedagogy Program at the School for Strings under the direction of Pam Devenport, where she also began her musical studies at the age of four and went on to Juilliard's Pre-College division at age eight.

    Miss Pae is a passionate teacher and has taught at School for Strings, Dillar-Quaile School, Geneva Conservatory, as well as maintaining a private studio in New York and New Jersey.  She is proud to be teaching cello at Suzuki on the Island!





Sing Ing Ho - Piano Teacher


       Sing Ing Ho, a native of Taiwan, came to New York in 1986.  She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Piano at Queens College where she studied with Morey Ritt.  She also received a Professional Studies degree in piano from Mannes School of Music in 1995, where she studies with Diane Walsh.


      During her school years at Queens College and Mannes School of Music, Ms. Ho received numerous awards and scholarships, and was an accompanist for the Choir/Choral Society under Robert White and Dr. Lawrence Eiseman. She also performed with the Violin and the Wind Repertoire Ensemble under Daniel Phillips and Ronald Roseman at Queens College.


     From 1995-97 Ms. Ho toured with the Canticum Novum as an accompanist under Harold Rosenbaum, and as a member of a piano/violin duo with Penny Ho, with whom she continues to perform in such places as Queens College, Colgate and Yale University. Ms. Ho has also performed extensively throughout Europe, specifically in noted concert halls in Salzburg, Vienna, London and at the Saracusa Music Festival in Sicily.


     Ms. Ho received her Suzuki Piano Teacher Training from Trinity College  in 1991. She supplemented her training with a course titled “Music and the Brain” in 2006. She was granted a residency for Nassau County’s BOCES Arts in Education in 2006-2007. North Shore Hebrew Academy High School Music Conservatory Program 2007-2009.


     In addition to being the piano teacher at Suzuki on the Island, Ms. Ho is currently on the piano faculty at the Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College, and is the Choir Director and Organist/Pianist at Calvary Lutheran Church of East Meadow Long Island.




Aymeric Dupré la Tour - Piano Teacher / Piano Accompanist

           Aymeric Dupré la Tour received his doctorate from The Juilliard School in 2009.  He serves as organist and music director at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany in Hempstead, NY and is a faculty member and piano accompanist at Suzuki on the Island.

     After studying piano and music theory at the Conservatoire de Région de Lyon, Mr. Dupré la Tour studied organ in Paris with renowned virtuoso Pierre Pincemaille at the Conservatoire Claude Debussy, receiving the Premier Prix.  In the mean time, he completed a master’s degree in earth sciences in Paris and worked for two years in Venezuela as a geologist for the French oil company Elf Aquitaine.

     Determined to further his musical studies, he entered the Artist Diploma program in organ performance in Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1998, thanks to a Dean’s Talent Award.  After graduation, he focused on playing the harpsichord and entered the Master’s Program in Historical Performance in Oberlin as a full scholarship student with Professor Lisa Goode Crawford. During his Oberlin years, he performed as a versatile collaborative keyboardist and also gained experience as a conductor.  His recital of the Goldberg Variations was part of the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute in 2003.

     Playing the piano remains one of Aymeric Dupré la Tour’s greatest passions.  He has been a staff accompanist at the Oberlin Conservatory (OH), Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory (OH), the Oberlin Flute Institute and the International School for Musical Arts in Niagara (Canada).  At Juilliard, Aymeric Dupré la Tour teamed with violinist Jee Hae Lee for a year of enlightening chamber music courses with Jacob Lateiner, distinguished collaborator of Jascha Heifetz.

     Mr. Dupré la Tour has always had opportunities to share his love of music with younger musicians.  He was for more than a year the very popular accompanist of the Firelands High School choirs (Oberlin, OH).  During his time in Oberlin, he enjoyed playing for Molly Johnson’s Suzuki school’s student concert.  For two years, he gave individual coaching to three sisters who were active performing with their own teenage family group: Strings of Gold (Arnold family).
